What is Newswise?

Newswise is learning on the basis of news articles. Newswise offers English reading comprehension lessons every fortnight at three levels: A1, A2 and B1 of CEF. In every new Newswise issue one of the five different reading strategies is highlighted. Your subscription entitles you to download the fortnightly texts plus assignments, print them and distribute them amongst your pupils.

Who is Newswise for?

Newswise is for pupils in the upper grades of primary education, secondary education, vocational training and special education. Pupils need at least a basic English vocabulary knowledge.

How can I get access to the Newswise lessons?

You can get access to the Newswise lessons by registering for a subscription or trial subscription. After filling out the registration form, you will receive your login information directly by email.

What types of Newswise subscriptions are there?

There are two subscription types:

  • The regular subscription gives you access to the fortnightly texts and assignments for a period of one year. You can download them from the website.
  • The free trial subscription gives you a two month access to Newswise. This trial period expires automatically, so you will not be confronted with an unwanted subscription.
